Course Description
This two-hour webinar will expand on the original one-hour Homunculus and the Hand presentation through the exploration of the challenging and rewarding study of the structural and functional connectivity between the brain and the hand. It will combine the physical and psychosocial, link the obvious with the unconscious, and detail the salient anatomy of the hand and sensory and motor cortices.
Objectives
1. Discuss the origin of the homunculus model.
2. Detail the clinical relevance of the Homunculus and the Hand.
3. Study the homunculus model and the impact of visual and tactile perception on the sensory and motor cortex.
4. Hypothesize and cite evidence detailing the role upper extremity injuries may have on the sensory and motor cortex.
5. Organize a structured video environment in which professional peers from across the world can discuss personal and researched thoughts in relation to the interconnection between the hand and the sensory and motor cortices.
